Denver Public Schools Logo

Denver Public Schools (DPS) is working to provide strategic supports for high-need schools while continuing to develop its evaluation, growth, and performance compensation systems. DPS’ strategic initiatives are grounded in best practice personnel policies, informed by empirical research on incentive pay programs, aligned with Colorado’s new state statutes, and integrated with the new Colorado Growth Model (CGM). DPS is refining its existing systems in an effort to enhance educators’ ability to advance student learning, engage in ongoing professional learning and school development opportunities, and advance teacher leadership. DPS comprises over 170 schools and over 84,000 students. While DPS has outpaced the state average on student growth over the last five years, more than half of its students struggle to reach proficiency, and only 56 percent currently graduate from high school.
